Music producer, composer, sound designer
Manchester-based music producer OLI HARRISON occupies the sweet spot between electronic and organic, between familiar and alien, between the underground and the atmosphere. Bringing together influences from across the musical spectrum, his music is a melting pot from which an indefinable sound reverberates.
From his formative years on the UK unsigned touring circuit, OLI HARRISON has honed his skills and sound by collaborating with some of the UK's best emerging talent in the fields of music, film and performance.
2017 saw OLI make his first waves in the independent music scene with the release of his debut EP Refraction. Self-released, self-promoted and self-distributed, Refraction laid down a marker and introduced the world to OLI HARRISON's musical signature.
The 5 tracks on Refraction ebb and flow with a powerful sense of forward trajectory and a broad brush approach to dynamic balance. Jazz, electronica, house and funk all take turns to bubble to the surface whilst the EP as a whole presents an organic marriage of electronics, acoustic instruments and lush atmospherics.
Before and during the recording of Refraction, OLI was achieving international exposure through his scores and music placements in the world of film. 2017 saw a hugely successful run of film festival appearances for Sand Men, a film produced and directed by TAL AMIRAN and scored by OLI HARRISON. Sand Men won awards at film festivals around the world and was released online in 2018 as a Vimeo Staff Pick, seeing over 100,00 views in it's first month.
2016 saw OLI secure his first music placement on an advertising campaign, with his track Lumiere appearing on video adverts for the luxury retailer WILLIAM & SON. OLI has gone on to work with a list of clients that includes RINSE FM, OWSLA RECORDS, ESCAPE PLAN LTD, CRYSTAL PALACE DINOSAURS and SIDEWAYS FILMS.
OLI started his music career with Bachelors and Masters degrees in music production and film scoring at the world-renowned music faculties at LEEDS METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY and CITY UNIVERSITY OF LONDON. Working in world-class studios with some of the most respected music practitioners in the world helped OLI to develop a unique production style that incorporates both traditional and contemporary elements. His productions effortlessly blend together electronic and organic sounds, resulting in pieces that delicately walk the line between sound design and music composition.
This aesthetic immediately struck a chord with his creative contemporaries and was the vehicle for his early career in film music. The Refraction EP is set to capitalize on this momentum and broadcast OLI's sound louder than ever to music fans around the world.
